Shakira delivered a spectacular performance in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, treating fans to an exciting concert. Among the thousands in attendance, one special guest stood out—her mother, Nidia Ripoll.

A video circulating on social media captures the touching moment, showing Nidia standing as someone accompanies her and looks after her during the concert.

Meanwhile, Shakira’s father, William Mebarak, was reportedly discharged from the hospital the same day the singer arrived in Colombia following a recent health setback. As soon as she landed, Shakira made it a priority to visit him. Her father, who turned 93 last September, has been facing ongoing health concerns.

Other fans took to TikTok, where another clip of Nidia went viral. Shakira mom was captured singin along to ‘Antología‘, one of Shakira’s earliest hits from her album ‘Pies Descalzos’.

Staying connected to her parents

Following Shakira’s move from Barcelona to Miami, her parents relocated to Colombia, settling in northern Barranquilla, according to various media outlets, including RTVC. The singer frequently visits them whenever her schedule allows, making trips back home to support them.

In June 2023, just months after moving to Miami, Shakira traveled to Barranquilla to be by her father’s side during a medical procedure. She has also brought her sons, Milan and Sasha, on visits to spend time with their beloved grandparents.

A tribute to her Colombian roots

As expected, Shakira paid homage to her roots during her homecoming concert. Among her 13 dazzling outfits, she incorporated a sombrero vueltiao, a traditional hat from Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

Adding to the celebration, she invited Barranquilla’s Carnival Queen, Tatiana Ángulo Fernández De Castro, on stage. The two danced on stage to ‘Te Olvidé,’ a classic song by the late Joe Arroyo, who originally performed it at the city’s carnival in 1998. “Barranquilla, this is for you!” Shakira exclaimed before launching into the song, instantly thrilling the crowd.

The touching moment went viral on social media. Fans praised the singer with comments such as “She’s the queen of this country,” “Colombian pride,” and “She’s beautiful inside and out!”
