Saturday Night Live Launching UK Version on Sky in 2026

UK residents will soon hear the phrase, “Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!” every weekend.

Saturday Night Live is set to launch an official UK version sometime in 2026, coming from SNL creator Lorne Michaels and British broadcaster Sky. It will follow the live sketch comedy format of the original, with a rotating lineup of celebrity hosts and musical guests joining a cast of British comedians and comedy writers.

Michaels is the creator and executive producer of SNL UK through his company, Broadway Video. Sky shares the same parent company, Comcast, as one of the US version’s production studios, NBCUniversal.

“For over 50 years Saturday Night Live has held a unique position in TV and in our collective culture, reflecting and creating the global conversation all under the masterful comedic guidance of Lorne Michaels,” said Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and Sky’s chief content officer, in a statement. “The show has discovered and nurtured countless comedy and musical talents over the years and we are thrilled to be partnering with Lorne and the SNL team to bring an all-British version of the show to UK audiences next year — all live from London on Saturday night!”

Meanwhile, SNL is still going strong in the US after a 50th anniversary celebration that included a star-studded concert and an even more star-studded primetime special featuring returning cast members and musical guests.
