“My family’s safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more, ” she told People in a statement on Monday. “For now, our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter,” she added.

“Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me,” Bullock concluded.

Sandra Bullock’s Younger Sister Recently Opened Up About ‘Reporting Fakes’

The Demolition Man star’s statement follows a message shared by her younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, on Sunday, February 2. In the message, Gesine revealed that numerous individuals were impersonating her on Facebook.

“I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes, dealing with weird & scary emails to my BUSINESS and HOME from men who believe that, through one of these many fake ‘me’s, they have a relationship with my sister through private messages and off app sites and have been giving (sometimes) THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to an incredibly famous and successful grown assed woman,” Gesine wrote alongside a series of screenshots of the scammers.

She certainly doesn’t hold back in the scathing rant, adding that she reported the accounts multiple times to Meta. “Surprise! They are all still up!” she added.

“If you see a fake account, are friended or messaged by one, report and block,” she urged her followers. “The only reason I stay on FB is to monitor this for my own knowledge so I am aware of the danger coming at me (and yes, because of these scams, I’ve had to involve local law enforcement and they’ve been outstanding).”

Gesine seemed befuddled that Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, seem to operate totally differently when it comes to complaints of imposter accounts.

“Strangely, Insta handles these things and even informs me when someone creates an account that may be an imposter. But [Facebook]? Same company with [the] same tech? Can’t be bothered,” she concluded.

The Sandra Bullock Social Media Imposters Harken Back to a Recent Celebrity Catfishing Scam

Gesine Bullock-Prado also mentioned another recent celebrity imposter scam in her rant. A French woman lost over $800,000 to scammers pretending to be Brad Pitt, convincing her she was dating him and footing his medical bills post-Angelina.

Listen, it may seem a bit far-fetched. However, in her defense, the scammer allegedly used very convincing photos of Pitt in the hospital, such as the ones below.

“At first I said to myself that it was fake. That it’s ridiculous,” the woman, identified only as Anne, recalled to French outlets.

However, the 53 year old simply couldn’t resists the imposter-Pitt’s charming texts.

“There are so few men who write you this kind of thing,” Anne explained. “I liked the man I was talking to. He knew how to talk to women; it was always very well done.”
