“I don’t even like the word diet. I just try to eat healthily,” Samia told Express. One thing she does like? Smoothies, which she blends in a Nutribullet food extractor. “I like fruity ones,” she said, adding that her husband, Sylvain Longchambon “will do one with oats, soya milk, dried berries, nuts and seeds.”
Samia also exercises, but not as much as she should, she says. “I should go to the gym more and the fact that Sylvain is a personal trainer… well, it’s ridiculous I don’t utilise him more. I do planks and squats if I can’t find time for anything else. I just want to stay toned,” she told Express.
Samia told OK! that after welcoming her second child, her husband helped her get into shape. “Sylvain came up with an exercise plan as I haven’t got a clue. He’s got me in shape for my Corrie comeback. What I really like is that because he’s a trained skater and athlete, he has different ways of training you,” she said. “Sylvain never pushes me too much. If I don’t want to do it, I don’t do it. But I always do feel better when I exercise.”
Samia told Good To that “we eat quite healthily as a family – but we’re not ‘boring healthy’. We have takeouts, we love a good pizza, but as a rule we eat well and watch the sugar intake and stuff. We don’t eat much red meat and if I do buy it, I try to buy organic and free range,” she said.
Samia first started experiencing anxiety as a child. “Obviously I went to the doctors when I was 11 with it. I’ve never spoken about it before but I have had different forms of therapy over the years,” she told The Mirror in 2019. In 2013, while competing on Dancing on Ice, her anxiety was so crippling she couldn’t eat. “My first week of Dancing on Ice, I weighed just under seven stone. I couldn’t eat anything,” she said on a podcast. “Sylvain was giving me doughnuts for a bit of sugar because my anxiety was so bad.”
