Robert Randolph Celebrates The Spirit of Strong Ladies on New Single and Official Music Video for "Big Women"

Grammy-nominated, pedal steel dynamo, Robert Randolph, has unveiled a new funk-soaked single, celebrating the mettle, poise, and tenacity of the strong feminine, on “Big Women.” The track, a feature off the musician’s forthcoming full-length solo album, Preacher Kids, due on June 27, 2025, arrives in tandem with the official music video, a visualization of the seismic effect of independent women.

“Big Women” follows the initial single from Preacher Kids, “Sinner.” The arrival of this batch of material from Randolph marks a significant shift from the artist’s two-decade-long Family Band format to an independent focus on his own boldness and musical finesse, a linchpin of today’s unveiling and its brazen take-away laden in self-determination.

Randolph told Relix, “‘Big Women’ is about honoring the women who raised us, danced with us, prayed for us, and weren’t afraid to take up space doing it. It was the first song we cut that day with Shooter, and it lit the fuse for everything this record would become.”

“When we say ‘big,’ we’re talking about strength, confidence, and lived experience,” he continues. “Big women have that energy you recognize right away. It’s next-level.”

Accentuated by illustrious guitar riffs and a catchy chorus, “Big women got me riding high! Big women make me feel alright!” The track began as a pedal steel jam and vocal scat before evolving into a commanding ode to life’s leading ladies. Randolph trusted singer-songwriter Judith Hill to assist in writing the chorus and verses, which fill out the potent lyrical motif.

Paired with the song is “Big Women’s” visual equalizer, a black-and-white draped capture of Randolph at his instrument, strumming, dancing, and feeling the power of the divine feminine. Shrunkated in stature, Randolph demonstrates on-screen swagger and is joined by two larger-than-life women to help illustrate the power of their presence.

Preacher Kid represents Randolph’s debut on the esteemed Sun Records and was produced by Shooter Jennings. Raw, roots-focused extemporization of gospel, blues, rock, and soul, the set showcases the musician’s capacity, solo and with the help of others, including guests Margo Price, Judith Hill, and Tash Neal.

In conjunction with the forthcoming release, Relix presents a limited-edition Preacher Kids vinyl as a special offer. The clear-vinyl variant, limited to just 500 copies worldwide—only 250 of which are available in the U.S. —is exclusively available via relix.shop.
