Warner Bros. has revealed the first trailer for Mickey 17, Bong Joon-ho’s new adaptation of Edward Ashton’s 2022 sci-fi novel Mickey 7.
Starring Robert Pattinson as the titular Mickey, the film follows a space colonist who has signed up to be an “expendable” — if he dies (which he certainly does, at least 17 times), a new body is generated with most of his memories in tact. Mickey is tasked with exploring and surviving an ice planet that humans are attempting to colonize, and all the while, people keep asking him, “What’s it like to die?” Eventually, after a death, Mickey’s body is misprinted, resulting in multiple Mickeys. Mickey 17 is Bong Joon-ho’s first film since his Oscar-winning 2019 film Parasite. Also starring in Mickey 17 are Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Naomi Ackie, and more. The film makes its way to theaters worldwide on January 31st, 2025.
