Michael and Tom’s acceptance speech
A fan fact was that in 2002-2003 Michael was an intern at The York Theatre Company. “I was an intern at The York,” Michael admitted in his acceptance speech at this year’s Spring GALA. “That is so surreal,” Michael stated, and noted the full-circle moment.
Not only were their achievements celebrated at this event, but also their “spirit, passion, resilience, and their commitment to making theater a home for all of us.” They were commended for their artistry, leadership, generosity, and unwavering belief in the power of theater.
“Thank you to our beloved Christine Pedi, who is such a gem, and we love so much,” Tom D’Angora said.
“I also want to thank Tom D’Angora because I would not be here being honored without the other half, so thank you Tom,” Michael said. Tom responded, “I want to say ‘you’re welcome.’ Thank you to the genius next to me.”
