REVENGE OF THE SITH Returns to Theaters this Spring, Celebrating Its 20th Anniversary_1

Believe it or not, it’s been twenty years since the theatrical release of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. To celebrate two decades of Obi-Wan Kenobi having the high ground, Lucasfilm is re-releasing Revenge of the Sith to theaters this spring. So for those of you who have only ever experienced Order 66 on DVD or Disney+? Well, you’re in for a whole new galaxy. Revenge of the Sith will run in U.S. theaters and select international territories for one week only, starting April 25. It will be available in several formats, including, for the first time, 4DX. You can check out the new theatrical poster by acclaimed artist Matt Ferguson below:

Matt Ferguson’s poster leans into a very Sith-like red-and-black aesthetic. It highlights Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) as he succumbs to the dark side. Looming behind him is his ultimate destiny as the iconically evil Lord Darth Vader. Below Anakin, you can see his fateful duel with his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) on the planet Mustafar. Other cool details include Republic Star Destroyers in battle with Separatist flagships, as the Clone Wars come to an end.

At the time of its release, we all genuinely believed Revenge of the Sith would mark the end of the Star Wars saga. At least as far as movies were concerned. After all, that’s what George Lucas told us it was going to be at the time. (Oh, we were such sweet innocent summer children back in 2005.) Of course, that turned out to very much not be the case. Nevertheless, Revenge of the Sith retains a special place in the hearts of many Star Wars fans. And now, you’ll be able to experience it again (or for the first time) the way George Lucas intended it, on the biggest theater screen imaginable. With rattling chairs or whatever.
