This summer, Harrison Ford will say goodbye to Indiana Jones forever. The 80-year-old legend has announced The Dial of Destiny will be his final performance as the famed archeologist. That should make for one bittersweet entry in the series. But before Professor Jones goes on one last adventure, you can revisit the story that started it all. And you can do that in the best place possible. Before the franchise’s fifth film goes on a goodbye treasure hunt, Raiders of the Lost Ark will return to movie theaters for a special event. The Indiana Jones movie won’t be in theaters for long, though. So don’t get lost in a big warehouse if you plan on being there.
Next month, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s 1981 classic is going to roll onto the big screen like a giant boulder once again. Fathom Events has announced it’s bringing Raiders of the Lost Ark to movie theaters for only two days, June 4 and June 7. Tickets are already on sale for this screening. So, if you want to see Indiana Jones and friends at the theater, you can purchase them now from Fathom’s website.
Also starring Karen Allen, Denholm Elliott, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, and John Rhys-Davies, Raiders of the Lost Ark is an unquestioned classic that launched one of Hollywood’s most beloved franchises. It also gave us one of cinema’s most beloved characters in Indiana Jones.
We’ll take any excuse we can to rewatch one of our favorite films ever. But is it possible this special movie theater release is about more than re-experiencing Raiders of the Lost Ark on the big screen? The Dial of Destiny‘s title and trailers are giving off major time-foolery vibes. Could there be some direct time travel connections between its story and the story of Raiders of the Lost Ark?
We can’t wait to find out. But even if there isn’t, it’s not like we need an excuse to go on a treasure hunt—whether it’s an old one or a new one—with Indiana Jones.
