RACHAEL Ray’s private health struggle has been revealed as concerned fans claim she looks unrecognizable in new videos.
The Food Network star hosted her eponymous talk show from September 18, 2006, to July 28, 2023.
Recently, Rachael, 56, began sharing cooking videos from her new FYI show, Rachael Ray in Tuscany, on Instagram and TikTok.
The Emmy winner concerned fans after she looked unrecognizable in one of her new videos, with many questioning if she’s doing well.
In 2008, The National Enquirer reported that Rachael had a throat cancer scare – and while she shot down the outlet’s reports the TV personality did have to undergo “minor surgery” for a benign cyst on her vocal cord.
At the time, her rep, Charlie Dougiello, told People, “Rachael is the picture of health.
“She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord,” he continued, adding “It’s a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely affect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings.”
“[Rachael’s] totally fine. It’s just something she needs to take care of. She hasn’t been feeling ill,” a source asserted.
In 2006, Rachael, known for her raspy voice, revealed she’s had issues with her voice for most of her life while speaking with the outlet.
“I lose my voice a lot,” she said at the time.
Rachael confessed, “I had a lot of croup as a kid so I don’t have the strongest vocal cords to begin with. I went to a voice doctor [who] taught me exercises for my throat and to cut back a little on the caffeine.”
CONCERNED FANS
On Saturday, Rachael shared a video of her making pollo al mattone – seasoned roast chicken – to Instagram.
In the video, the chef wore a black button-up cardigan and jeans.
Rachael sported glasses as well – something she typically does not wear on her cooking show.
The former talk show host opted to go without makeup as well.
Fans were concerned for Rachael and asked if she was ok in the comments, with one person asking, “Are you ok, Rachael?”
What is Croup?
Croup is a contagious respiratory infection that mostly affects babies and young children.
The condition causes swelling of your child’s voice box (larynx) and windpipe (trachea), which leads to symptoms including a distinctive barking cough and raspy breathing, per the Cleveland Clinic.
Usually, Croup is mild but symptoms can become severe and life-threatening.
Viral infections are the most common cause of the condition.
Croup is most commonly seen in babies, along with children under 3 years old.
As children get older, croup isn’t seen as often because their windpipes get larger and swelling is less likely to impede their breathing.
“I didn’t even realize this was her,” added another.
“Who is this?” questioned a third.
“Hope this is nothing other than age,” wrote one user as a number of fans worried that the chef might be sick.
IS RAY DOING OKAY?
In August, Fans again expressed worry for Rachael when she looked different in a TikTok video.
This time Rachael made burgers and bacon during another clip from a cooking segment.
Both times, she was advertising for her show, Rachael Ray in Tuscany.
Fans asked “What happened?” and said they didn’t recognize her.
Rachael has yet to comment on her sudden change in appearance.
