Priyanka Chopra is speaking out.
Earlier this week, Rosie O’Donnell revealed in a TikTok that she recently ran into the 39-year-old actress and husband Nick Jonas while out to dinner in Malibu.
While talking to the couple, the 59-year-old comedian assumed that Priyanka was the daughter of self-help guru Deepak Chopra, to which Priyanka corrected her saying, “No, and Chopra is a common name.”
Rosie then went on to ask her followers if they too believed Priyanka and Deepak were related, since they have the same last name.
She then issued an apology to Nick and “the Chopra wife,” which caused many people to call Rosie out for not knowing Priyanka‘s name again.
Rosie then shared a second apology for making people assume Priyanka was “rude” for their interaction.
After Rosie shared the story, Priyanka took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday (February 23) to share a statement regarding the situation.

“Hi everyone. Some thoughts.. I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter,” Priyanka wrote. “But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly.”
“We ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not to be referred to as ‘someone’ or ‘wife’ especially in a sincere apology,” Priyanka continued. “If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we our children in, will be amazing.”
Priyanka concluded, “Also PS – As I’ve said before, not all Chopra’s are related to the great Deepak, just as not all Smith’s are related to the legendary Will Smith.”
