Pom Klementieff is a successful actress beloved by genre fans especially. She’s best known for her role as Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically in the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise. Klementieff also starred in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One. In January, she shared a video on Instagram of herself kickboxing. How does she stay so fit? As you can see from her Instagram post, Klementieff likes to box to stay in shape. “Boxing combines punching drills and conditioning exercises that can improve your heart health, strength, endurance, balance and coordination,” physical therapist James Edwards, DPT, says to The Cleveland Clinic. “It can also reduce stress, anxiety and depression and improve your confidence and overall well-being.”
Klementieff stars in a lot of action films. She opened up about the stunt work she does to Esquire. “I’ve been training for years. I love pushing myself—just learning new skills and fighting. I love doing action stuff. It’s really fun. I was just boxing this morning. For this particular project, I wanted to be better at driving, too. So, I took drifting lessons for hours and hours. I learned how to do donuts, and how to drive with a stick shift. But it’s a different animal when it’s an electric car. When you hit the accelerator or do the Boost Mode, it just goes [imitates blasting off at powerful G-force speeds] like a space ship. [Laughs.]”
In her Esquire interview, Klementieff talked about the importance of AAPI actors being featured. “I think there’s a lot of improvement. I have faith in change and in things getting better. I see that there’s a lot more diversity in movies—and there is incredible shows and movies that have Asians in it, which is amazing. And which, of course, they should. So I feel positive.”
Klementieff shares a lot of her favorite workouts on Instagram. One thing she likes to do is ride motorbikes. She shared this video of herself learning how to ride a bike. Klementieff captioned the post, “Training with @tonycarbajal.” She also shared this video of herself doing some tricks on the bike.
Klementieff also likes to ride horses to stay in shape. She shares a lot of riding videos on Instagram. The American Heart Association states that riding has a lot of benefits. “A study commissioned on behalf of the British Horse Society found that horseback riding is indeed a good cardiovascular workout. Even just a half hour of riding is considered ‘moderate exercise,’ said BHS PR executive Megan Hawkins, ‘while trotting exerts more energy than playing badminton.'”
