Pirate Software has lost more than 100,000 YouTube subscribers in just two weeks as backlash continues over his controversial stance on the Stop Killing Games movement.

Pirate’s channel has experienced a sharp decline since June 23, around the same time Ross Scott, founder of the SKG campaign, posted a video on his Accursed Farms channel titled The end of Stop Killing Games.

In his response, Scott accused Pirate of undermining the movement and misrepresenting its aims in his original 2023 video. Pirate Software has faced substantial backlash since then, with the SKG petition far surpassing its goal of one million signatures.

Pirate Software continues to bleed subscribers

According to Social Blade, Pirate Software’s channel lost 110,000 subscribers between June 26 and July 9. That figure rises to 120,000 if the data range is expanded to over the last 30 days.

Daily losses peaked at 20,000 on June 26, continuing to drop by an additional 10,000 on subsequent days.

Pirate Software lost over 100,000 subscribers between June 25 and July 9, 2025.

During a July 4 Twitch stream, Pirate, real name Jason Thor Hall, claimed he’d received death threats and been swatted as a result of his SKG video. “I hope your initiative gets everything that you asked for, but nothing you wanted,” he said in reference to the campaign.

As of writing, the Stop Killing Games EU Citizens initiative has obtained over 1.2 million signatures.
