Playing both a killer and a good husband in his latest TV series “Flower of Evil,” Piolo Pascual believes there is a gray part in his character.
As Jacob, a metal craftsman who operates his own workshop, Pascual thinks his character is not all black and all white, but that there’s a gray area to it.
“Yes, definitely. That’s the fun part in playing the character. It’s very multi-layered and he made himself believe the things that people wanted him to believe. So, he created a character that is not totally black. But there’s a gray to it. And of course, the core of his character is also different,” he said during the online conference for the series last Monday, June 20. “So, there are a lot of grays in his life. There are a lot of things that he had to deal with and choices he had to make whether choosing what is good or choosing what is bad,” he added.
What attracted Pascual to his role “was the complexity of the character that I had to play.”
His Jacob character, Pascual assured, is very annoying as “you’re gonna hate him in the first few episodes.”
“You’ll definitely not gonna like him because he’s lying to his wife. He’s lying to himself. So, with the development of the story, as it progresses, that’s what he has to deal with. So, he’s very annoying, definitely annoying,” he said.
