Pink Floyd have announced they’ll release a new box set of The Dark Side of the Moon to celebrate the LP’s 50th anniversary. The vinyl and CD set will release on March 24 and include the first standalone LP release of Live at Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974, a legendary full-album performance of the album.
The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary deluxe box set includes 2CD/2LP/2-Blu-rays along with the aforementioned unreleased performance at Wembley Empire Pool, which took place in November of ’74. Through the several mediums in the box set, the album can be enjoyed in Dolby Atmos Mix, 5.1 Surround Mix, Stereo Mixes and more. There is also a 76-page songbook included, along with two 7′ replicas of the “Money”/”Any Colour You Like” and “Us and Them”/”Time.”
A 50th-anniversary photo book, also included in the box set, will be released on its own through Thames & Hudson. In a nod to the press conference in a Planetarium where the album premiered in 1973, The Dark Side of the Moon will play in planetariums around the world through March.
Pink Floyd have also launched an animation contest for fans to pair The Dark Side of the Moon songs with their own work. Judges for the contest include drummer Nick Mason, Pink Floyd’s creative director Aubrey Powell and the British Film Institute. Enter the contest here.
