In case you missed it, Kanye West stormed out of an interview with Piers Morgan on Tuesday. Yes, again. He also walked out of an interview with Morgan in 2023, but eventually returned. This time around, he didn’t, and Piers Morgan now is airing out West on social media, sharing what he calls the “inside take” on what transpired.
The interview, which only lasted a few minutes before Kanye West bailed, saw the Uncensored host and the embattled rapper almost immediately butt heads.
“I’m doing good. I don’t use the term West, you know, the whole drop the slave name idea,” West replied while sitting next to his sidekick “Sneako” on a balcony in Majorca.
They then got into an argument about how Kanye saying his life is going well is in, as Piers Morgan put it, “in direct contrast” to West’s “public image at the moment.”
“I already disagree,” West interjected. “It’s not in contrast — there’s so many people and artists that are championing the idea of someone being able to just express who they really are, and have been able to go through the war of being attacked by the banks, being attacked, you know, by the banks — that’s the best way to put it. Being attacked by the banks, and to still be here with this view is, you know, that’s the win. So I think that’s — I’m in contrast to your contrast.”
Then, Kanye took great offense when Morgan said he had 32 million followers on X (Twitter).
“Now, look, right now you’re not going to take, you’re not going to take inches off my d—, bro,” Kanye shot back. “Like, how many followers do I have?”
After Morgan corrected himself, Kanye West actually has 33 million followers on X, the rapper ranted, “I’m a gift. Why do all you people in media act like you haven’t played my songs at your weddings or graduations or at funerals or when your child was born? You take somebody that’s living, like a Lennon or a Michael Jackson, and you take all this time to just, like that nuance right there, it’s idiotic. It just shows the hate you put out there for people that put love. There’s so much love…”
“What are you talking about?” Piers Morgan interrupted, to which Kanye then accused Morgan of “not taking accountability or responsibility.”
West then told Morgan “we can circle back when you can count,” took off his mic and walked off screen. End of interview. But the end of “Sneako” and Morgan going back and forth about what just happened.
Morgan wasn’t done there though. He later took to social media with what he called “the inside take on the whole Kanye interview debacle that’s now making news around the world.” (The full video can be viewed on Substack.)
Piers Morgan also wrote on X, “Ye did walk out, after two minutes.. because he’s a snivelling little coward who didn’t want me to ask him why he’s become a vile Hitler-loving Nazi-slathering anti-Semite. Happy to continue the interview when/if you grow a pair @kanyewest.”
