YouTube star PewDiePie is putting down long-term roots in Japan, revealing that he’s purchased land in the country where he’ll build a dream home to raise his family.
Felix ‘PewDiePie‘ Kjellberg officially moved to Japan in 2022, where he and wife Marzia welcomed their first child, Bjorn, in 2023.
While there are several other high-profile foreign influencers living in Japan, the couple’s families are halfway across the world in Europe and America, making them consider leaving the land of the rising sun to be closer to their support network.
However, in a vlog posted on April 11, 2025, Kjellberg revealed that he’s putting down permanent roots in the country, announcing that he bought land to build a new home.

PewDiePie said that he and Marzia had been looking to buy land for around a year, and successfully found the perfect plot after months of searching.
He took viewers along with him to film their tour of a construction company, where he showed off the business’s multiple safety tests of materials like insulation and lumber.
The YouTuber even shared a small look at the land they’d purchased, which was covered with a black plastic tarp at the time of filming.

He claimed that the construction company they’d hired would begin building in late October, although it’s unclear if he meant 2025 or if the footage was taken in 2024.
“Everything is moving very fast, but really good,” he said. “We’re super excited. It’s gonna be amazing. We looked for land for like a year until we found one.”
Kjellberg then showed a brief look at an initial design for their family home, which includes a theater room, a sunken living room, and a special outdoor area for their dogs.

PewDiePie shared a first look at the layout for the home he’s building in Japan.
This latest revelation comes a month after the YouTuber revealed he and Marzia had chosen to stay in Japan after wrestling with the idea of leaving to be closer to their families.
“In many ways, Japan makes no sense, because we’re so far away from family. We are far from friends that we miss back home,” he said in a March 14 vlog.
“It’s made it very difficult, because we love living in Japan so much. …trying to come up with a decision has been so difficult, but we finally decided, and we decided that we’re staying.”
It doesn’t look like the Kjellbergs will be leaving Japan any time soon as they continue to grow their family with new additions like their chihuahua-pug mix puppy, Momo.
