THIS IS the moment Peter Crouch takes on a 20-minute ice bath and multiple gym sessions as part of an extreme morning routine.
Social media influencers have in recent times taken to posting ‘get ready with me’ style videos, revealing how they prepare for each day first thing in the morning.
The former England star puts some of the more demanding tasks to the test, to see if they are sustainable on an everyday basis.
In a video clip – part of a marketing campaign for Alpro plant protein – the footballer is seen doing kettlebell deadlifts, EZ bar curls, barbell bench presses and neutral grip chin ups.
This is followed by yoga and a minutes-long dip in an ice bath.
“Didn’t enjoy it, 20 minutes, far too long,” he said of the chilly dip.
Crouch then returns to the gym for a second workout, similar to the first, and finishes the routine with some blueberry crepes.
A spokesperson for Alpro, which has partnered with nutritionist Jenna Hope to create breakfast recipes with plant protein, said: “We believe everyone deserves to start the day with a healthy, tasty and nutritious breakfast.
“Our research found that a staggering majority of the nation believes protein is an important addition to their diets, we have seen a lack of plant protein options at breakfast time.
“We want to make protein more accessible to consumers and provide new ways to enjoy fuss-free breakfast products for any morning routine – no matter what it looks like.”
It comes as a poll of 2,000 adults found early risers complete an average of six tasks before 7am – including workouts, meditation and vacuuming.
The research was commissioned by Alpro as it expanded its range of Plant Protein with protein drinks and alternatives to yoghurt.
The study also found 45% describe themselves as a ‘morning person’ and 56% of them don’t even need to set an alarm.
This early start is often due to having so much to fit in – from walking the dog, making breakfast and getting the kids ready for school.
More than half (64%), who want to improve their morning rituals, wish they had more energy, while 36% would like to get more exercise in.
Of those who enjoy morning time, 25% do so because they can get lots done and 21% said everything feels quiet and still.
However, more than a third of all respondents (36%) said they struggle to find a tasty breakfast that suits their routine and sets them up for the day.
Toast (30%), cereal with dairy milk (29%) and a cup of tea (26%) were found to be the go-to breakfasts.
Almost half (45%) don’t think their current breakfast choice includes a lot of protein, but 25% would be interested in eating more protein-rich meals if it’s important to their diet.
Of those who took part in the study by OnePoll.com, 47% are unsure of the daily recommended amount.
