PETE Davidson has been struggling to book new jobs after abruptly canceling his comedy tour and Peacock show Bupkis’s second season.
An insider told The U.S. Sun that Pete, 31, has had difficulty finding new work after burning bridges in the TV and film industry.
The source said trouble really began when Pete pulled an about-face and canceled the already green-lit season 2 of his comedy Bupkis in March.
“When Bupkis was set for Season 2, and Pete suddenly backed out of it, people were furious with him,” the source explained.
Then in July, as the Saturday Night Live alum checked into rehab, several of his standup dates for his Prehab tour were called off.
Beyond the cancelations, Pete’s own team has been struggling to get on the same page with him, the insider said.
“His team keeps trying to get him to go on social media, so he went on, but then he got back off,” the insider claimed. “The guy is just really hard to work with.”
The U.S. Sun previously revealed that earlier this year the comedian also had a deal for a new movie, but he stopped showing up to meetings, so the project was canceled.
CAREER ON PAUSE
However, a second source insists that even though the Bodies Bodies Bodies star hasn’t had any major roles in either TV or movies this year, that doesn’t mean he isn’t getting offers.
“He gets movies and TV offers every week, but they are not necessarily aligned with things he’s looking to do.
“He is actually continuously getting offers, but he’s figuring out exactly what he wants.
The second insider added that Pete’s focus on his mental health has been front and center since his rehab stint over the summer, and that he hasn’t wanted to take on roles and jump back into work too quickly.
Last month, the Daily News also reported that Pete’s been having difficulty booking new projects after bailing on Bupkis’ second season.
The outlet reported that after Pete announced the second season’s cancellation, he “voluntarily sent big payments to his co-stars — Edie Falco, Joe Pesci and Bobby Cannavale — for the work they’d lost.”
The publication added that “Hollywood is taking a break from Davidson,” and said his management team had been trying to book him as a guest host on SNL to help him revive his career.
Pete appeared in one skit on the late-night comedy show last month when friend John Mulaney hosted.
According to his IMDB profile, Pete has a small role in a film called The Pickup which began filming in February and was sent to post-production in May.
He also completed a voiceover for a role in the animated film Dog Man, which will be released in 2025.
The second insider contended to The U.S. Sun that despite Pete’s rather bare 2024 resume, fans can expect the King of Staten Island actor to appear in more roles next year.
“He is looking at some things for the spring, which will hopefully be announced in January.”
“He has things going in the right direction, and he’s considering a bunch of different projects which will likely be confirmed sometime in the new year,” the insider added.
While the comic hasn’t made any tangible impact on the big or small screen this year, fans have likely caught his appearances in commercials for Smartwater, Taco Bell and Manscaped.
According to iSpot.tv “commercials featuring Pete Davidson have had 95,718 airings” in the past 30 days.
GETTING HELP
As The U.S. Sun recently revealed, Pete checked into treatment again last month, after ending a quick, private fling with Bachelor star Maria Georgas.
An insider close to the star said he was briefly in Florida receiving treatment, as The U.S. Sun previously revealed, but added additional context into the help he was getting.
“He has a therapist in Florida who works on processing traumatic memories and dealing with PTSD.”
“Pete travels to see this therapist on a regular basis for treatment.”
That insider said that while the 31-year-old may still struggle with mental health he is currently “clean and in a good headspace.”
They emphasized that Pete was in treatment for his mental health and not substance abuse.
Pete Davidson’s Rehab Stints
Pete first checked into rehab in 2017 as he was diagnosed with BPD and PTSD.
In 2019, he went to the Sierra Tucson Treatment Center in Arizona.
The comedian underwent treatment at another mental health facility in June 2023.
He checked back into rehab at the end of July 2024 and a source revealed that Pete had left the facility after only a few weeks.
In November of 2024, The U.S. Sun revealed that Pete had once again checked into a rehab, this time in Florida.
RELATIONSHIP RIFTS
Amid his mental health and career struggles, insiders told The U.S. Sun that Pete and his former SNL costar turned ferry venture business partner Colin Jost suffered a big falling-out.
An insider said that Colin, 42 “wants nothing to do” with Pete.
Meanwhile, a business associate close to their Staten Island ferry venture tried to downplay any talk of a rift, insisting the pals simply drifted apart.
Pete broke up with his last serious girlfriend, Madelyn Cline, just before his summer rehab stint, as The U.S. Sun exclusively reported.
He previously dated actress Chase Sui Wonders, 28, and reality star Kim Kardashian, 44.
