Embattled singer Perry Farrell appears to be on shaky ground with his bandmates both past and present.
Adding to the fallout from his onstage fight with guitarist Dave Navarro and the possible disbandment of Jane’s Addiction, one of Farrell’s former bandmate in Porno for Pyros, bassist Martyn LeNoble, has posted an eviscerating takedown of the singer and his wife Etty Lau Farrell on social media.
“I can say, unequivocally, that Perry has been the worst frontman I’ve ever worked with,” LeNoble wrote in series of posts on X/Twitter Sunday night (September 29th). “Always a kind word, followed by shitty actions. The fish rots from the head down. I still don’t understand how he channeled some of those great lyrics & vocals on the first two Jane’s records.”
LeNoble went on to cite other “difficult” singers he’s worked with, including the late Mark Lanegan, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley.
“All kinder, better, and more talented,” the bassist wrote. “I judge people by their actions… not by their banter about ‘spiritually.’”
He continued: “Perry doesn’t show up for rehearsals, sound checks, writing, etc. He jumps in late with shitty lyrics. Some I had to tell him were terrible. Unprepared, wild eyed, not present, high. Motherfucker does it over and over again.”
Lastly, LeNoble blasted Perry’s wife, who has acted as the singer’s spokesperson in the aftermath of the Jane’s Addiction fight and tour cancellation.
“And Etty is a horrible person. ‘I will sue you…. We have money to burn’ Let’s see where that goes,” wrote LeNoble before adding in one final tweet: “The worst with the biggest ego.”
LeNoble was the original bassist for Porno for Pyros from 1992 through 1995. He briefly rejoined the band for short stints in 2009 and 2022, with the legendary Mike Watt handling bass duties otherwise. The group completed its farewell tour back in March.
LeNoble later deleted the tweets, writing, “There was no need for me to pile it on. I hope PF gets help”
