Pat Sajak is eagerly awaiting the day his daughter Maggie spins the wheel of parenthood, especially with her budding romance with Ross McCall.

During an interview with Maggie Sajak about his tenure on Wheel of Fortune ahead of his retirement, the 77-year-old host expressed his wish to become a grandfather.

“I’m perfectly happy if it just means that I’ll continue with my crossword puzzles and play with grandchildren—hint hint hint. No pressure,” he quipped in footage for Good Morning America Monday.

His remarks regarding grandchildren follow Maggie, a social correspondent for the game show, who appears to be getting closer to Ross McCall. Maggie, 29, and the 48-year-old actor express their affection for each other on social media and are frequently spotted together around Los Angeles.

Why Pat Sajak Maybe Shouldn’t Get His Hopes Up For Grandkids with Daughter Maggie’s Current Beau

However, maybe Pat shouldn’t hold his breath. McCall is something of a cocksman when it comes to the ladies. He was engaged to Jennifer Love Hewitt in 2007 and to Alessandra Mastronardi in 2021.

Meanwhile, Pat Sajak said that he’s spinning with gratitude for the show’s success over the years.

“Somewhere along the line, we became more than a popular show,” he explained. “We became part of the popular culture. And more importantly, we became part of people’s lives. And, that’s been awfully gratifying,” he added.

Pat also mentioned to his daughter that, after hosting WOF for over four decades, he was now eager to embark on new adventures.

“I’ve always said to you, you’ve heard me say this dozens of times. I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple of years too late,” he explained.

In June 2023, the veteran host announced his retirement from the show. His final appearance, coinciding with the Season 41 finale, will air this Friday.

“This was announced a long time ago, almost a year ago. So I’ve had time to sort of get used to it,” Pat told Maggie in the footage. “And it’s been a little bit wistful and all that, but I’m enjoying it and taking it all in and reflecting on the great run.”

Ryan Seacrest will succeed Pat as host, while Vanna White will continue her role at the puzzle board. Pat Sajak will remain a producer of the show for at least three more years.
