Parineeti’s body transformation has inspired millions. “All my life, I have struggled with how I look, how I feel, and how people looked at me. I was constantly made fun of, but the person I was, I generously laughed with them. Today, many people ask me what triggered the weight loss, did I give in to the ‘bollywood pressure’? To that I say – thank god I became an actor and had that pressure! I am able to achieve what I couldn’t achieve otherwise,” she captioned an Instagram post. “I feel more confident, I feel at peace, and I feel proud! Girls and women meet me all around the world, at airports, events, on the street; they hold my hand, hug me, and tell me their struggles and how I changed their lives. They show me their wallpapers, their wallets, and its all pictures of me!! They look at those pictures and want to make that change in their own lives. They look at my Built That Way campaign and have stuck it to their walls. I have seen women tear up and tell me I changed their life. Post delivery weight, teenage obesity, they are fighting it, and I am their inspiration. As an actor, There is no bigger achievement for me. I am glad to be a part of your life in this way. So thank you everyone. Thank You for making me feel loved. Like I always say – if I could do it. So can you.”
“I was always thinking about food. So, it took a lot of mental strength to lose all the extra weight”, Parineeti revealed to NDTV. “I thought I would never be able to give up pizza, but I did. I eat everything in limited portions now, but I make it a point to fulfill my cravings”.
Parineeti cheats, but when she does, she makes up for it. “If I indulge in fatty food, I balance it out by either eating a light meal for dinner or burning more calories the next day,” she told NDTV.
According to Parineeti, she gains weight really fast, due to her poor metabolism – even when she eats healthy. Finally, she went to an Australian Health Center and was tested for food allergies. She learned about foods she should and shouldn’t eat. Hydration is key for her. For breakfast she will eat brown bread with butter, 2 egg-whites (no yolk) and 1 glass of sugar-free milk. For lunch she typically eats a salad and brown rice with dal and vegetables and low fat foods with less oil around 7-8 pm for dinner, plus 1 glass of sugar-free milk.
Parineeti isn’t a fan of running on treadmills or weight lifting at the gym. Instead, she mixes up her fitness dancing, practicing martial arts, yoga, meditating, or swimming. However, once in a while she will hit the gym.
“I don’t check my weight on the weighing scale. As long as my clothes are fitting me and I can wear better clothes, that is the most important thing,” Parineeti Chopra told NDTV. And, she uses the mirror as motivation. “Every time I look at myself, I feel like working harder.”
