Here is the official synopsis for Gladiator II, via Paramount Pictures:
From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.
In addition to Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal in the lead role of Lucius, Gladiator II also stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and the legendary Denzel Washington.
Gladiator II plays a particularly massive role in the career of Mescal as the film is the first blockbuster that he’s starring in, having previously made a name for himself in small-scale drama films such as The Lost Daughter, Aftersun, All of Us Strangers, and Foe, and the popular Hulu series Normal People.
Gladiator II will be released in movie theaters in the United States on November 22. You can also check out the first trailer for Gladiator II, which was released earlier this year, below.
