OLIVIA Rodrigo has once again been slammed for copying another artist.
Fans think the singer’s song Obsessed is too similar to Mariah Carey’s song, which happens to have the same title.

The tea started after Rodrigo, 21, announced on Tuesday, March 20 that she would be dropping five new tracks, including Obsessed, on Friday.
The other four songs are: Girl I’ve Always Been, Scared of My Guitar, Stranger, and So American.
Rodrigo’s version of Obsessed is set to appear on the deluxe edition of her hit album Guts.
She released a teaser on Instagram for the song’s music video on Wednesday.
Mariah released her own version of a song titled Obsessed in 2009.
In a thread on Reddit (@r/popheads), one fan commented on the similarities between the two songs, writing, “Not my first choice for a Mariah Carey cover song, but I’ll take it.”
“Copycat olivia strikes again,” another person commented.
“seriously we want something original,” said a third person.
“She already put her own spin on a Katy Perry classic with teenage dream so this was the logical next step,” another person wrote.

This isn’t the first time Rodrigo has been chastised for copying another singer.
She was also in hot water for allegedly copying Taylor Swift’s song Cruel Summer in her hit Deja Vu, which was a track on her blockbuster album, Sour.
After Deja Vu’s release, Rodrigo gave Swift, her songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff, and collaborator St. Vincent songwriting credit.
When Rodrigo released her second album, Guts, many people thought the lead single was about Swift.
Rodrigo dodged around the question to Guardian, saying, “How do I answer this?
“I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about.
“I’ve never done that before in my career and probably won’t. I think it’s better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing.”
The singer added that she was “very surprised” people thought her lyrics were about Swift.
In June 2023, Rodrigo said on Instagram the track helped her “sort through lots of feelings of regret, anger, and heartache,” but didn’t point any fingers at who caused any of the emotions.
Her emotional post said, “It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and it felt very cathartic to finish.
“‘I’m so happy it’s in your hands now and I hope it helps u deal with any bloodsuckers in your life. all my thanks 4ever.”
Aside from riling up all the Swiftie fans, the Guts star also received criticism for allegedly copying the band Paramore’s 2007 track Misery Business.
She wound up giving two singers of the group retroactive credits on her single Good 4 U, which at one time topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The credit was given after it was speculated that the single was too similar to Paramore’s song.
