Offset On Balancing Parenting Duties With Work
Offset joined People Magazine in a recent interview and spoke about how important his role as a father to his five children was. He explained that he made sure he always made them a priority and spent as much time as he could with them, despite his constantly packed schedule.
The 30-year-old said, “Being a father’s important to me personally. For instance, there’s a big party on Saturday, right? In Los Angeles. And my son Kody’s first football game is on Sunday. There’s no way I’m missing either event, so I’m going to have to make it work. It’s priority to me.”
In addition to his two children with his wife Cardi B, 12-month-old Wave Set, and Kulture Kiari, their four-year-old daughter, Offset has three other older children from past relationships. The oldest child is 12-year-old Jordan and seven-year-old Kalea and Kody.
Offset Said He Wanted His Children To Have Structure
Further in the interview, the former Migos rapper shed light on how he ensured his children had structure while growing up. Offset said, “I don’t play when it comes to that because I know they’re growing up.”
He continued, “And it’s cool to be the dad that’s an artist and all that, but when you get older, and you start thinking about things, all my kids are [going to be] like, ‘Dang, my daddy balanced all of that, and he was able to take care of me, teach me things, help me walk, help me say my first words [and was] still was on tour.”
The “Open It Up” rapper added, “That’s my biggest thing; I don’t want my kids to have everything in the world and then not have structure coming up because I was never around to give them the structure.”
Offset Said He Was Lucky Cardi Accepted His Children
Offset and Cardi B’s youngest child, Wave, recently turned one, and the couple commemorated the event with a birthday party. All of the artist’s five children were invited to the event and attended. According to Offset, everyone attending was a no-brainer.
In the People interview, the rapper said, “Luckily, I’m blessed with a beautiful wife that’s accepted my kids as hers and family, so it’s always mandatory. “It’s mandatory they all celebrate with each other and grow up with each other because they love each other. They talk to each other on the phone all the time, and it’s just beautiful… my mom has two different other kids, and I grew up with all my brothers and know them all, and so it’s just the same thing.”
The “Deadz” rapper made a similar comment during an interview with Essence Magazine in April. He said he felt grateful for the “Money” rapper who was open to the rest of his children and treated them all like they were hers.
Offset added, “I feel like sometimes people go into a relationship with a man or a woman who has kids with negativity — and I feel like people should embrace it, and love it.”
Cardi B Posted The Family On Instagram
In celebration of the youngest’s birthday, the family of seven was seen in all their denim and white glory in an Instagram post Cardi B made a week ago. The youngest children and Offset’s three oldest children were clad in matching denim outfits. The rapper captioned the post, “My HEARTS.”
Offset also made a post to celebrate his one-year-old’s birthday. He shared several pictures of both of them as well as a throwback video of the father and son. The post was captioned, “MY BIG WAVE IS 1 YEARS OLD TODAY I LOVE YOU BIG MAN.”
Cardi B also posted a clip on her Instagram story showing how the birthday boy entered the party. The event was a race car-themed party, and Wave’s entrance was in tune with that as the one-year-old stepped in, or more accurately, rode in on a remote control truck. The bedazzled gift was reportedly gifted to him by Hennessy Carolina, Cardi’s sister. Offset held the truck’s controls and guided Wave to the rest of his siblings.
