If you’re familiar with Oasis, you’re probably aware lead singer Liam Gallagher has a reputation for saying whatever he feels like and is the kind of person who seems to not just thrive on but take joy in conflict. As a result, it’s not a huge shock to discover he set his sights on Coldplay in the wake of the Kiss Cam Incident Heard Around The Globe.
At this point, I have trouble believing anyone who’s spent more than five minutes on the internet over the past week is unfamiliar with the viral video that made the rounds courtesy of two people who really, really did not want to be shown on the big screen while attending a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium on July 16th.
It didn’t take long for internet sleuths to track down the identity of the couple before deducing that the moment in question exposed an alleged affair between the now-former CEO of the DataOps company Astronomer and the woman employed as the head of its human resources department (both of whom were married to a spouse they weren’t caught embracing).
The incident and the ensuing fallout did spark some Discourse concerning the ethics of dissecting the personal lives of two largely private citizens who suddenly found themselves thrust into the online spotlight for all of the wrong reasons, but that didn’t stop plenty of people from throwing morality to the wind while getting way too invested in the juicy drama that took social media by storm.
Coldplay singer Chris Martin opted to give fans a heads up before the camera cut to the crowd during a concert at the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium over the weekend, but there’s another band hailing from the United Kingdom that let concertgoers know they had no plans to blow up their spot at a recent show.
Liam Gallagher poked fun at the Coldplay cheating scandal during an Oasis concert
As I mentioned at the start of this piece, Liam Gallagher has spent decades drumming up controversy due to his tendency to speak his mind.
It would probably be easier to name British musical acts he hasn’t besmirched at some point rather than attempting to list them all—we’re talking about the man who was primarily responsible for Oasis breaking up in 2009 thanks to his well-documented rift with his own brother—and Coldplay is one of the many that have drawn his ire.
Gallagher once denigrated Martin by saying he “looks like a geography teacher” (which is both a hilarious and strangely accurate insult) and didn’t spare the Coldplay fans he described as “boring and ugly.” With that said, they buried the hatchet when they performed at One Love Manchester in 2017.
The Gallagher Bros were also able to put their differences aside when they agreed to reunite for a tour that kicked off in the United Kingdom on July 4th, and on Sunday, the duo wrapped up a five-show run at Heaton Park in Manchester.
The frontman couldn’t stop himself from referencing what went down at Coldplay’s show across the pond a few days prior, as Gallagher preempted a performance of “Slide Away” by letting the “lovebirds” in attendance know “We ain’t got any of that Coldplay snidey f—king camera s—t” before adding “It’s none of our f—king business.”
“Don’t worry for those who are cheating we don’t have that Coldplay camera here”

Never change, Liam. Never change.
