O2 Academy Brixton has announced its reopening dates, with a set of gigs set to mark the occasion.
The O2 venue has been closed since December 2022, after a concert for the afrobeats star Asake ended in tragedy when a fatal crowd crush killed two people and left another in a critical condition.
Since then, the venue’s future had been left hanging in the balance, with the venue allowed to retain its licence and reopen only after ensuring it would meet “robust” safety rules.
And now that reopening is official, with a set of gigs taking place there next month.
Nirvana UK (tribute to Nirvana) and The Smyths (tribute to The Smiths) will perform at the venue on Friday, April 19, whilst Definitely Mightbe (tribute to Oasis) and UK Foo Fighters (tribute to Foo Fighters) will play there the following Friday, April 26.
Tickets for both sets of gigs will go on sale from 9am this Friday, March 08, with a pre-sale set to go live on Wednesday, March 06 at 10am – visit here to buy them.
At present, it’s just Editors and The Black Keys who are scheduled to play at the venue in early May.
