The track was released in 1997 and was her first ever number 1.

A few years later she was given a Brit Award nomination for Best British Female Solo Artist.

She was up against Billie Piper, but neither of them came away with the award.

Despite it being nearly three decades since she came to fame, Billie has hardly changed.

She has the same hair as she did in her glory days – tight corkscrew curls that frame her face.

Billie’s debut album Growing, Pains, was first released in 1997 and achieved gold status.

She co-wrote the album, despite not having any previous writing experience.

She drew on her journals and diaries from years before for inspiration.

Kiss The Rain entered the UK Singles Chart and reached number 4.

In the US, the track reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 31 weeks on the chart.

As well as being used on Chasing Amy, it was also on Dawson’s Creek.

Billie has spoken out about her bisexuality and the homophobia she faced throughout her life.

She said how she was made to feel that she “wasn’t gay enough”..

She’s also spoken about living with depression and has worked with various charities that focus on mental health.

Billie is an ambassador for the Jed Foundation as well as Mindful Initiative, which supports young people dealing with mental health issues.
