The 52-year-old found herself in tears in her car, grappling with changes in her appearance and learning to accept unexpected new scars.
“Okay, so I just got out of my CT scan, mapping — as they call it — for my radiation treatment, and when they said they were gonna tattoo me, I didn’t realize it was actual, real tattoos, so I was tatted!” Eggert detailed to her Instagram followers on November 20th.
“And it’s minor, it’s nothing but dots, but boy, every step of this process is never gonna let you forget it, there’s just always going to be a constant reminder,” she added as her voice broke, tears welling in her eyes.
However, Eggert seemed to muster her strength. “So yeah, I have tattoos. My mom’s gonna be really proud of my neck tattoo, but that’s OK, that’s OK,” she quipped.
She admitted that she’s “still not looking forward to it, whatsoever, but I got through that part and the rest is gonna have to just be me working on myself and how I’m gonna get through it and ignore these new tattoos that I have.”
Fans Show Their Support For Nicole Eggert During Her Cancer Journey
Of course, Eggert’s fans flooded the comments to the post with words of support.
“You’re a warrior. Keep fighting,” one person wrote. “I have three dots – 4 dots top, bottom and each side of my breast. Only the cool kids have them… you’re part of an elite club now ❤️ Sending love ❤️,” a second supporter added.
Meanwhile, another person going through their own cancer journey related to Eggert’s post vividly.
“I start radiation soon and HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS! Thank you for posting. I’m feeling the same way now that I know. 🥺”, they wrote.
Eggert, best known for her role as Summer Quinn on Baywatch, revealed back in January that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
To assist with ongoing medical expenses, Eggert’s friend Mindy Molinary launched a GoFundMe campaign on her behalf.
As of this writing, it’s raised over $65,000 of a $100,000 goal.
