After earning rave reviews for his performance in 2021’s Pig, Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage followed that up with his first live-action studio role in over a decade: Lionsgate’s incredible action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
As a result of those two performances, Cage is now officially back on Hollywood’s A-list, as a new story from The Hollywood Reporter has detailed that the Con-Air and The Rock is now, once again, an in-demand actor and has subsequently raised his “quote”, which is Hollywood’s term for how much an actor demands they’re paid for each role.
INTERVIEW: Nicolas Cage Is Terrified Of And Inspired By The Same Thing
Nicolas Cage is officially in-demand for big studio roles again as the Oscar winner has raised his quote from $1 million to about $4 million
After years of making indies, the actor is in demand for live-action studio films for the first time since 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Sources tell THR that the actor was paid $7 million to lead Massive Talent and received close to $3 million for Renfield for a supporting role.
That is a marked jump from the fees he had been receiving for pumping out indie after indie, some schlocky, some arty. He had six live-action credits in 2019, four in 2018 and five in 2017. His fee for leading those VOD-type movies fell into the $1 million to $1.5 million range, with some profit participation thrown in. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
In addition to his upcoming roles in Universal’s Renfield and A24’s Dream Scenario, Cage is in discussions for sequels to both National Treasure and Face/Off, according to THR‘s report.
I was actually lucky enough to interview Cage earlier this year ahead of the release of The Unbearable Weight of Massive talent and the result was one of the best conversations I’ve ever had in my career, so make sure to check that out below if you’re a fan of the beloved actor:
