Newport Festivals Foundation Unveils Custom License Plates Benefiting Free Music Lessons Program

This year, the Newport Festivals Foundation will continue its longstanding tradition of impact-oriented artistic celebrations by bringing the beloved Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals back to Newport, R.I.’s Fort Adams State Park for their 71st and 66th stagings. Today, the nonprofit foundation sustains its other vital cultural initiatives by debuting a new essential for die-hard fans: a custom NFF Rhode Island license plate.

Marked with the emblems for both of its standard-bearing musical gatherings and the slogan “Music + Hope + Community,” the Newport Festivals Foundation’s charity plates will support its Free Music Lessons program, with 100% of the proceeds going towards free, top-quality music instruction for all Rhode Island students. A limited number of the plates are available to pre-order now, and once that run is sold through, new orders must be placed through the Rhode Island DMV. Place your pre-order here, and learn more Newport Festivals Foundation’s music education, artist relief initiatives and efforts to preserve musical traditions while advancing innovative new forms at newportfestivals.org.

This year’s Newport Jazz Festival is set for August 1-3 with a lineup that spans a vast array of genres related to the event’s core, curated in collaboration with Newport Jazz Artistic Director Christian McBride. Janelle Monáe, The Roots and Jacob Collier will lead this year’s festivities, topping a bill of over acclaimed acts including the Ron Carter Quartet, esperanza spalding, Béla Fleck’s BEATrio with Edmar Castañeda and Antonio Sanchez, De La Soul and Cymande. From July 25-27, Newport Folk Festival will welcome a litany of the biggest names in Americana and beyond, including Jeff Tweedy, Waxahatchee, I’m With Her, Kevin Morby, Jessica Pratt, Lukas Nelson, S.G. Goodman, Goose, Public Enemy and many more.
