“Weird Al” Yankovic is the subject of a new book from 1984 Publishing. Lights, Camera, Accordion! collects over 300 photos taken by Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz, Yankovic’s longtime drummer and photographer. Schwartz’s collection of over 20,000 35mm photos of the musician have been transferred from the original negatives. The photos include rare moments captured on the video sets for “Amish Paradise,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Gump,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “The Saga Begins,” and more. Check out some photos from the book over at Mashable.
“It’s been another wonderful trip down memory lane for me, this time in living color,” Schwartz shared in a statement. “We’re currently on a six-month, 125+ date tour and I’ve been sharing the book’s progress with Al and the band, and they’re as excited about it as I am! The fans have been very loyal to us for the last 40 years, and I know they’ll enjoy this book as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together.”
Lights, Camera, Accordion! is out November 15, 2022. The 256-page book will be sold as a stand-alone hardcover volume and as part of a limited-edition box set with exclusive artwork, prints, postcards, and more. Only 350 copies of the box set will be produced.
“Weird Al” Yankovic is also the subject of an upcoming biopic starring Daniel Radcliffe. The film, called Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, was given an official poster and release date earlier this week, and a teaser trailer for the film was released in March.
