An avid Loch Ness Monster investigator has captured footage from a webcam that he believes is yet another sighting of the creature in the Scottish waters. The footage was captured by Eoin O’Faodhagain, who has recorded more than two dozen sightings of the fabled creature over the past few years.
“A large round black hump can be seen at the front of a fast moving wake, in the middle of Loch Ness, with water disturbance, then fizzles out into nothing as if it was never there in the first place,” he wrote in the description to one of the videos.
O’Faodhagain often spots the Loch Ness Monster and captures the footage off of a Visit Inverness Loch Ness webcam. This time was no different.
“My instinct was this could possibly be a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster,” he told the Mirror. “I was intrigued when I spotted it, and said to myself ‘what the hell is that moving out there causing such a disturbance?’ I noticed a large wake moving steadily across the loch, more than half a mile out from the shoreline. On occasions, a large black round hump was visible out of the water in front of the wake.
”At first I thought it might be the black rubber speedboat out of Fort Augustus that zips around, bringing tourists out onto the loch at terrific speed. Observing this black round hump, it appeared and disappeared throughout the entirety of the video clip.”
“Nessie’s neck rises up out of Loch Ness captured on the VILN Shoreland Lodges Webcam at 11.08 a.m., on the 15/03/2025,” Eoin O’Faodhagain gives as a description of the second video. “Its neck is long and straight and thick. It is seen rising 300 yards out into the Loch.”
O’Faodhagain also told the Mirror, “You could not compare this sighting to a boat, as when it ended there was nothing to see on the surface – only flat calm water. I assume the hump-shaped object is a front body part of the creature, and the rest of it is beneath the surface. The creature moved briskly with a purpose in mind.”
This is the second sighting of the Loch Ness Monster that Eoin O’Faodhagain has made in 2025. The first was not recorded as being “official,” but another sighting by a visitor to Dores Beach was reviewed by the Loch Ness Centre in Drumnadrochit, which called it the “first significant sighting of the year.”
The Loch Ness Centre will be organizing a massive search for the Monster this May. It will be the third year in a row such an expedition will have been held.
This year’s search, which will take place from May 22 to May 25, will involve remote operating vehicles (ROVs) and baited camera traps. “We can’t wait to work with Little Loch Broom Marine Life as new technology will search the Loch as we aim to get a step closer to finding the famous monster,” said Nagina Ishaq, general manager of The Loch Ness Centre.
