Dogs are the best. We know this. There’s a reason they are called man’s best friend. Cats aren’t even in the conversation. In fact, the single best compliment a cat can ever receive is someone saying “my cat is just like a dog” and that should tell you everything there is to know about the superiority of dogs but we’ll forge on anyway and discuss this new study.
This new study was commissioned by Acana Pet Food which I proudly fed my Bernese Mountain Dog for years, their Pacifica blend for a while but I forget what t’s called now, and I’ll vouch that my BMD loved their product. In the study, they found that people would prefer to kick it with their dogsf over the people they love the most.
Specifically, they found that 43% of Americans would rather watch a movie/TV with their dog than with their partner. And the reasons cited for this are (1) they don’t interrupt (44%), (2) don’t ask questions (42%), and (3) they are better cuddlers (35%).
Here’s the thing, they could’ve saved a lot of money conducting this 2,000 person study and just read the room. It’s been long established that Americans like and care for their pets more than their fellow Americans. Contrast the lengths people to go in order to save stray dogs and re-home them with the absolute disdain the vast majority of Americans have for homeless individuals.
As a nation, we have and always will care more about dogs than people. If you don’t agree with this then you’re wearing blinders.
As for the study’s findings that 43% would rather watch a movie with their dog than their partner that number seems low. Would you rather watch a movie with someone who is likely to disrupt the movie at some point and ask inane questions throughout? Or would you rather watch the movie with an adorable furry best friend?
What are we even doing here, people. The percentage has to be closer to 75%.
