Paramount Pictures have released the new trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The eighth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise, the tone of the trailer certainly suggests this film will be Tom Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt.
Ahead of the film’s release on May 23, Paramount Pictures has now released the second trailer Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and its tone echoes that of the first: Tom Cruise’s entire eight-film-arc as Ethan Hunt is being intensely revered, potentially ahead of the character finally meeting his ultimate fate.

According to director Christopher McQuarrie, who has helmed the franchise since 2014’s Mission: Impossble – Rogue Nation, making this his fourth Mission film, some of Tom Cruise’s stunts in The Final Reckoning are so intense that an audience member claimed to ‘almost have a heart attack’ during a screening of the project.
“We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’ And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right,” McQuarrie told Empire Magazine.
Alongside Tom Cruise in his iconic role of IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, and Rolf Saxon.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be released in movie theaters in the United States on May 23, 2025. All seven of the previous Mission: Impossible movies are currently streaming on Paramount Plus.
