It’s time to once again ask that eternal question—“Who ya gonna call?” The answer, dear friends, remains “Ghostbusters.” And the latest iteration of the adventures of the premiere supernatural exterminators from Dark Horse Comics is on the way this May in a new 4-issue comic series called Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest. And yes, with that title, expect some spooky buccaneers. The new series, hails from the creative team of writer David M. Booher and artists Aviv Or and Cris Peter. And these comics are just a little bit of out of fun time; they actually bridge the gap between the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire. You can check out the first preview pages for Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest below, as well as the standard edition and variant covers and all the information about what’s in store:

And here’s the official synopsis for the new Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest comic series from Dark Horse Comics:

In Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest, the Ghostbusters’ increasing notoriety is throwing them for a loop. While Trevor steadies himself by trying to plan a “friendiversary” celebration for him and Lucky, Phoebe meets someone who might be a real friend instead of just a social media follower. But friendships new and old have to take a back seat to more immediate concerns when a ghostly saber summons the ghost of Captain Kidd and threatens to transform NYC into a ghostly pirate town!

Honestly, nothing goes together with spooky ghosts better than pirates. Just ask Scooby-Doo or those salty old Pirates of the Caribbean. On bringing a new breed of ghostly pirates to the Ghostbusters universe in comic form, writer David M. Booher said the following:

“When I researched ghostly happenings in New York City, I came across the true story of Captain Kidd. He owned a house near Wall Street with his family. Turns out, historians are divided on whether he was the fearsome pirate we know or actually framed for piracy. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring him back to ask him ourselves. What could be more fun than having our Ghostbusters stop an angry Captain Kidd from turning Manhattan into a 17th century ghost pirate den?

Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest #1 (of 4) arrives in comic shops on May 21 from Dark Horse Comics. It is now available to pre-order for $4.99 at your local comic shop.
