After years of development and delays, Empire Magazine unveiled the first official look at Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones. In addition to the new photos of Ford as Jones, the feature piece also reveals that Jones will be traveling to 1960s New York City in the film. Indiana Jones 5 will also be the final time that Ford plays the beloved character.
The original Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, is set in 1936. The sequel, Temple of Doom, was a prequel and was set in the year 1935. The third film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, took place in 1938 and 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is set in the year 1957.
In addition to the legendary Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones 5 also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. Directed by Logan and Ford v. Ferrari filmmaker James Mangold, Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
While Ford is now 80 years old, he certainly hasn’t given any indication that he plans on retiring as he recently signed on to play Thunderbolt Ross (taking over for the late William Hurt) in Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts, both of which are scheduled to hit theaters in 2024.
He’s also currently starring in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923 alongside Helen Mirren and is also signed on to star in the upcoming comedy series Shrinking, which was created by Jason Segel and Ted Lasso duo Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence.
