Netflix Show About Bouncy Castle Going Viral

“Laughter turns to grief of despair as a gust of wind lifts a bouncy castle, claiming three innocent lives and shattering a tight-knit community forever.” This is the official plot synopsis of the Mexican drama series The Accident, one of the top 10 TV shows in the world on Netflix this week.

In case that plot description wasn’t absurd enough for you, rest assured, as a viral clip of the series’ inciting incident is even more preposterous than you could’ve imagined.

The 2024 version is not to be confused with the 2019 British version of The Accident, which featured a similar plot line as it followed a Welsh town’s fight for justice after an explosion at a construction site killed local children.

No concrete reports state that the new 2024 version is an official Mexican remake of the series, which suggests that the basic plot was perhaps plagarized.

The series, which premiered on Netflix on August 21, stars Ana Claudia Talancón, Eréndira Ibarra, Erick Elías, Alberto Guerra, Erik Hayser, Valentina Acosta, and more.

“Just laughed so hard I cried because I just started the 2nd most popular show on Netflix called The Accident and they spend 20 mins building up to the tragic event which is that at a kid’s birthday party, it got really windy and a bounce house full of kids flew away,” a viral tweet with over 13 million views says.

Critics certainly haven’t been kind to The Accident, as the series currently has a 33% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Given Netflix’s way of doing business, however, viewership is far more important than critical reception, meaning the streamer likely sees The Accident as a major hit considering it cracked its Top 10 TV shows without any marketing.
