In case it slipped your mind, Netflix has a new documentary on the way. Titled Titan, it *ahem* dives deep into the maritime disaster
Titan explores Rush and his quest to “restart tourist business to the Titanic” with the OceanGate submersible, despite what experts considered a “mathematical certainty” that the project would fail. The newly revealed trailer (embedded below) features several employees and experts familiar with Rush and OceanGate, whose futile attempts to warn Rush of the expedition’s dangers were more or less ignored. The doc includes quotes from Rush himself, footage from before the Titan began its expedition, and much more.
Titan will arrive on Netflix on June 11th. The official logline reads: “The OceanGate Disaster examines CEO Stockton Rush’s quest to become the next billionaire innovator and the doomed underwater endeavor that called into question the price of ambition in the depths of the ocean. The Titan submersible’s ill-fated journey to the ruins of the Titanic dominated headlines in June 2023, yet the shocking decisions that led to the disaster have never been revealed like this before.”
