Emmanuel tells Shape that she is working on not comparing herself to others. She says that she doesn’t put pressure on herself to look like other women, and women in the media. “I used to think I didn’t measure up to the women in ads, but I’m over the myth that we’re supposed to look like them. Ultimately, your body is functional-it gets you from point A to point B.”

Emmanuel tells Women’s Health that she is learning to love her body, no matter what she looks like. She describes a situation of looking at old photos of herself, and not being embarrassed, “You know how on Facebook it shows you a memory of yourself from six years ago or four years ago? A picture came up on my phone, and I went, ‘I look so great!’ But I also remember that at the time [of that photo], I thought I was overweight and needed to do all these unhealthy things. We just beat ourselves up constantly, and we’re never perfect enough.”
