“What if Columbo, except with Natasha Lyonne as the detective, and also, she’s a human lie detector?” That remains the pitch for the Peacock mystery series Poker Face, which is set to return this May with an impressive range of guest stars, as spotlighted in the newest trailer. The cast list for Season 2 includes Oscar nominees like Cynthia Ervio and Kumail Nanjiani, TV heavyweights like Giancarlo Esposito and Richard Kind, quality men-named-John like John Mulaney and John Cho, and some assorted wildlife.
Season 1 of Poker Face was one of Consequence’s best shows of 2023, nominated for four Emmys (including Lyonne as lead actress in a comedy series) and winning one (for Judith Light’s guest performance in the episode “Time of the Monkey”). The first season featured Charlie Cale (Lyonne) on the run from the mob, but unable to stop using her gift to suss out murderers she encountered on the road. Season 2 looks to continue that narrative, though as Charlie notes in the new trailer, she’s “maybe figuring out how to start enjoying this journey.”
The other announced guest stars for Season 2 include (::deep breath::) Adrienne C. Moore, Alia Shawkat, Awkwafina, Ben Marshall, B.J. Novak, Carol Kane, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Corey Hawkins, David Alan Grier, David Krumholtz, Davionte “GaTa” Ganter, Ego Nwodim, Gaby Hoffmann, Geraldine Viswanathan, Haley Joel Osment, Jason Ritter, Justin Theroux, Kathrine Narducci, Katie Holmes, Kevin Corrigan, Lauren Tom, Lili Taylor, Margo Martindale, Melanie Lynskey, Natasha Leggero, Patti Harrison, Rhea Perlman, Sam Richardson, Sherry Cola, Simon Helberg, Simon Rex, and Taylor Schilling.
