After MyKayla Skinner received death threats due to her former comments about the USA women’s gymnastics team, she took to Instagram to plead with Simone Biles to end their public feud.
Former Olympic gymnast MyKayla Skinner took to her Instagram on August 6 to plead with Simone Biles about ending their ongoing conflict.
Their disagreement started when MyKayla said “the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be” about the 2024 Olympic women’s gymnastics team in a now-deleted YouTube video.
After Simone won gold on July 30, she took to Instagram to clap back at MyKayla with an epic caption on photos of her and Team USA celebrating.
“Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions,” Simone wrote as she mocked her former teammate.
That’s when the negativity really started, leading MyKayla to address the severity of the situation on IG. “Things have really gotten out of hand lately. Watching people cheer on the bullying, which has led to threats of physical harm to me, my husband, and our daughter, is disgusting.”
“So, please at this point, I am just asking for it to just stop for the sake of my family because enough is enough.”
MyKayla went on to say that Simone’s IG post created a wave of inescapable “hate that includes death threats.”
She then pleaded, “So, to Simone, I am asking you directly and publically to please put a stop to this, please ask your followers to stop.”
She added that she “100%” takes responsibility for poorly articulating what had been said in her YouTube video about Simone, Suni Lee, Hezly Rivera, Jade Carey, and Jordan Chiles.
MyKayla also addressed mental health, saying that the community needs her and Simone to end their feud more than anything right now.
Her viral post yielded minimal feedback, as she limited the comment interactions.
However, those who were able to add their two cents said that “enough is enough” and that “nobody deserves death threats against them.”
Simone has yet to respond to MyKayla. However, she is finished competing in Paris, leaving netizens anxious for her to release a message to fans after hearing what her former Olympic teammate had to say.
