My Morning Jacket has unveiled the official music video for their single and subsequent album inclusion, “Everyday Magic.” The lighthearted visualization, directed by Amanda Kramer, offers a rare glimpse at the band transmitting physical representations while also supplying fans with an ocular complement for the song’s simple yet multiplex emotional arc. Speaking to their role in today’s music video, vocalist/guitarist, Jim James stated, “We haven’t appeared in many of our music videos historically, but I have always wanted to make an MMJ music video for a song that had us in it acting silly and having FUN, and it felt like ‘Everyday Magic’ would be a perfect song to do this for.”
“I had a vision of us running around being goofy and doing various activities that felt ‘FUN!’ in a surreal way. After doing some research, I came across some beautifully strange videos done by the amazing Amanda Kramer. We got in touch, and she helped us bring this vision to beautiful wild weird technicolor dancing LIFE! It was such a joy working with her and her team, and def the most fun we ever had doing a music video shoot! We hope you have as much fun watching it,” he continued.
Telling her story, Kramer added, “It’s rare that a band wants to collaborate, and even rarer that they want to be creatively surprised.” She said of the experience working with MMJ, “I loved this process – from prep to shoot to post, we laughed, amused ourselves, danced – and ultimately paid art service to the single, a song that should be a poptimistic hit. My Morning Jacket is five talented men…who smile.”
My Morning Jacket released their 10th studio album, is, on March 21, 2025, pairing the set’s arrival with a spurt of live shows. The initial touring leg ended on May 4, following the band’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival appearance. The band will resume their next leg of shows in support of the record beginning on August 5 at Hayden Homes Amphitheatre in Bend, Ore. The band will remain on the road much of October for select East Coast dates.
