MrBeast hits back at AI company using his name after thumbnail drama

YouTube superstar Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has hit back at an AI company for using the drama over him promoting AI as a discount code for creators.

In late June, MrBeast introduced an AI-driven YouTube thumbnail generator within Viewstats to help creators with their videos. It allows users to pick a YouTube channel, use those video thumbnails as “inspiration”, and put in a prompt to get something similar for their own uploads. It would even let them put their face over someone else’s.

However, the YouTube superstar quickly caught plenty of flak for it from his fellow YouTubers, especially as their logos were being used to advertise the AI tool. JackSepticEye blasted MrBeast over it. “What the actual f**k… and he used my logo in the promotion for it too. I hate what this platform is turning into. F**k AI,” he said.

MrBeast promised to make changes to the tool amid the backlash, but ultimately scrapped it on June 27, noting that they would, instead, push creators towards actual artists.

MrBeast blasts AI discount code in his name

AI company 1of10 has offered a discount to users who still want an AI thumbnail generator, using MrBeast’s name as a promo code. Yet, he isn’t too pleased about that.

“That’s rude. So I’ll reply to boost this d*ckhead to my audience. Everyone who got mad at me for having a AI thumbnail tool why don’t you go after 1of10 for stealing jobs?” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

One of the co-founders behind the company addressed Donaldson’s anger, offering the chance to talk it through on a call.

As noted, MrBeast said that the AI tool initially “missed the mark” and the ViewStats tool would, instead, show portfolios from artists who could be commissioned for work.
