Mr Beast pushed content creation to its limit over the course of five months, filming his Amazon show Beast Games while producing YouTube videos at the same time – something he compared to being an athlete.
Being the most-subscribed YouTuber while making a hit Amazon show can be stressful, but Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson was up to the task.
Speaking on Dexerto’s Clickbaited show, Donaldson revealed he created a backlog of YouTube videos to go out so he could focus on filming Beast Games… but this meant spending five straight months making content.
“It was brutal, because the thing is, we were consistently uploading on YouTube even though we filmed Beast Games. I filmed every day for like 60 days, so two months leading up to it, I was just doing main channel videos,” he said. “And then Beast Games, we filmed 15 hours a day, every day for 45 days straight.”
According to MrBeast, by the time Beast Games was done, they had burned through the backlog of videos, so he had to get right back to working on YouTube without a break – something the popular creator admitted took a toll on him.

When asked about how such a stressful schedule could have affected his relationships, such as the one with his new fiance, Donaldson spilled the details about why he doesn’t stop working.

“It takes a toll on everything. It’s weird. Being a top-tier YouTuber, you can almost compare it to like, it’s a weird comparison, I know some people are going to clip this, but it’s almost like being a top-tier athlete,” he remarked.
Donaldson elaborated on this comparison, explaining how YouTubers “always have to be on point” and that it’s something they have to “wake up and earn every single day.”
“There are tens of millions of people who want to be YouTubers. There are millions of YouTubers that do it full-time as a career. There are probably 20, 30, 50 million people who want to be me. Who want to be the greatest YouTuber in the world. There are millions who obsess every day over how they can take my spot and dethrone me. That’s their dream in life.”
