Jimmy Donaldson, better known as Mr. Beast, announced a new game show on Amazon Prime which he is calling the ‘largest game show in history.’
He announced on X, formerly Twitter, that the show will have over 1,000 contestants and a grand prize of $5,000,000. Donaldson also did an 90 minute interview on the Colin and Samir podcast about the new show dropping details about the show’s name, Beast Games, and how excited he is to do wide-reaching creative work off YouTube.
Mr. Beast also agreed with one of his followers that Netflix really dropped the bag on this by allowing the game show to go to Amazon Prime:
What Will Mr. Beast’s New Amazon Prime Show ‘Beast Games’ Be About?
Big news gamers I’m going to be filming the largest game show in history and releasing it on Prime Video! Over 1,000 contestants, $5,000,000 prize, and many other world records.. I’ll reveal more later this year but let’s just say, it’s gonna be an insane show 😀

His announcement on X didn’t say much but the accompanying interview added a ton of information:
When asked whether the show will have a ‘Hollywood feel’ by allowing character development to build and ‘scenes to breathe’, he says these episodes “are massive.” Going on to say he’s hired 80 to 90 people to help with this show, on top of his existing staff, and that he’ll need more “way more” people as they forge ahead.
‘Beast Games’ will consist of physical and mental challenges. He says the show should be ready to launch later this year but “won’t put out something (he) doesn’t like” so it won’t be released until it’s perfect.
Discussing costs, he said the average video he films right now costs around $2.1 million just in production. But with staff, promotion, etc., he says “if you include every cost it’s probably around $3.5 million a video” right now.
Is Mr. Beast’s New Show Going To Be Similar To Squid Games?
Speaking about the parallels to other content, the #1 comparable show is currently Mr. Beast’s own videos. However, Squid Games has been a global phenomenon for several years now and it will be natural for people to compared the two.
Mr. Beast says, however, “it’s completely different” and doesn’t feel at all like his show will be similar to Squid Games. Saying “it’s in a whole different universe than what they do.”
He hasn’t decided yet if all 10 episodes will be released at once or spread out over weeks, that there just hasn’t been enough thought put into that aspect of the release yet.
The prize? In the interview he wouldn’t say but on X he said it’s $5,000,000 which is the largest cash prize in game show history.
Unreal.
