Gabi Garcia is dancing on stage in her workout gear. In a new social media post the MMA star shows off her moves in a two-piece exercise set while attending the Craig Jones Invitational. “Legend,” Stuart Cooper Films, who shared the Instagram video, writes in the caption. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Gabi is one of the many athletes who rely on cold plunges to help restore and recover. “7 minutes ice bath for finish my day! Control my mindset is everything!” she captioned a post. There is limited research supporting the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increased focus, improved sleep, and decreased inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes basic post-sport recovery.
Gabi is open about her mental health struggles. “One step at a time. The hardest thing than starting something is starting from scratch after years of hard work. This time with depression and health issues and also not having my mind and spirit in balance has really taken a toll on me,” she wrote in a post. “It took me long to take that step of scoring and going to train with @choiultimatetraining I wasn’t ready to start over yet. I’ve been at my high performance for a long time and having to start over is a very painful process. But today I put on my white stripe of life and I’m back to doing my physical part and getting my training schedule in order. this makes me so happy! Today I was very happy to take another step towards the change I want for my life. and once again I’ll be back better than ever. Getting up is difficult, the flame was out. But I’ve always started over, I’ve always tried, and it wouldn’t be any different. I never asked for victory I always asked that I endure the process to the top and that’s life. Today I took one more small step but for me it’s huge. For those who know the taste of success, work is not a problem but a solution. I don’t have less problems but stronger shoulders to move on”
Gabi puts herself on diets when she has goals to achieve. “In November I started my diet. slowly, small steps. many obstacles, stress, problems, pain. But I needed to take the first step and get out of that depression! I didn’t want to let the opportunity come and I couldn’t get in shape. There’s still a long way to go, but I’ve already lost 20lbs and I still have 20 more to lose. Starting over is always painful,” she wrote in a post.
Gabi’s career focuses around her jiu jitsu practice. “Jiu-Jitsu gave me confidence in myself and a life lesson that today I don’t know what my life would be without jiu-Jitsu,” she wrote in a post. “So many medals and so many memories and yet jiu jitsu gives me the greatest joy I have.” Studies confirm that the practice helps with balance, cognitive function and psychological health in addition to weight loss and physical fitness.
As you can see in this latest video, Gabi enjoys dancing. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.
