For just a couple of bucks, anyone with the Meta Quest 3 headset can take Halloween to the next level with the Hauntify game which makes ghosts appear in a way that Halloween enthusiasts have been yearning for for decades.
I was never obsessed with Halloween. It was always a time to get free candy and not be judged for indulging in it. The parties were always fun. Then I had a son who is completely and utterly obsessed with all things spooky and Halloween is easily his favorite holiday so I feel like owning this Hauntify game is in my very near future.
A short clip of Hauntify has been going viral on Threads showing how ghosts randomly appear in home, definitely the creepiest place for them to show up, but presumably this works everywhere from work to school to home and everywhere else in between. The tagline of ‘Turn your house into a nightmare’ certainly isn’t for everybody…

The game itself isn’t new but it has been updated throughout the years and as the Threads post above suggest it is also available on the Apple Vision Pro but on the Meta Quest 3 it is a steal at just $6.99 in the Meta Quest store. Here is a speed run of what the gameplay looks like:
With the Meta Connect conference coming up later this month and the explosion of Meta’s Llama 3.1 open source AI model, I have to think that AI could be used in some ways to crank up the creepy factor on this mixed reality ghosts game. Honing in on the most disturbing types of ghosts would work. Figuring out ways to have this game run in the background alongside other games would be brilliant, if such a thing is even possible.
Mixed Reality gaming through the Meta Quest 3 headset is growing by the day. And the Meta Quest 3 headset is, in fact, a vastly superior product to the Apple Vision Pro according to Mark Zuckerberg himself who compared the two products and ripped the Apple headset apart. So while the video above purports to show Apple Vision Pro gameplay a savvy gamer would be better off spending on the game for Meta Quest 3 and potentially revisiting the Apple Vision Pro in a few years once the 2.0 and/or 3.0 models have been released.
