Tragic news and video footage has emerged out of Indonesia after a missing person was found inside of a 16-foot reticulated python, the longest species of snake in the world.

It is almost unthinkable in Western culture that such an incident could occur but this is the fifth time since 2017 that a human being has been eaten by a reticulated python in Indonesia.

The missing person was a 45-year-old mother of four. Her husband became suspicious when he found her belongings but she was nowhere to be seen. A subsequent search began and a massive 16-foot reticulated python with an enlarged stomach was found shortly thereafter.

The snake was captured and its stomach opened up to reveal everyone’s worst nightmare. It’s unthinkable why video footage of such a gruesome scenario would be widely disseminated but it has been shared by the Daily Mail and TMZ, showing the fully clothed human remains found inside the snake’s stomach and villagers carrying the woman named Farida.

Here in Florida, we have had multiple incidents of invasive Burmese pythons swallowing alligators and other large species throughout South Florida like bobcats and deer. But we have been very fortunate there hasn’t been an incident such as this yet.

This particular incident occurred in the Kalempang village located in the South Sulawesi province which is actually a massive area of mountains and beaches with human civilization that dates back 30,000+ years according to archaeological remains.

According to CBS News, another similar incident occurred last year when a 26-foot (8 meter) reticulated python was found eating a farmer. Another similar incident had occurred in the year prior.
