Miniminter explains why the Sidemen shouldn’t do another Charity Football Match

UK YouTube star Miniminter surprised fans by explaining why he believes the Sidemen shouldn’t host another Charity Football Match after 2025’s successful game.

Each year, British YouTube group The Sidemen gather two teams of fellow content creators for a live streamed football match, the proceeds of which are given to their charity of choice.

Dubbed the Sidemen Charity Football Match, this year’s game raised over £4,733,004 GBP (around $6,115,072 million USD) and garnered over 2.5 million live viewers — and given its success, Miniminter thinks there’s no way to top their latest event.

Miniminter sparks debate after saying Sidemen Charity Match shouldn’t continue

According to the YouTuber, the Sidemen shouldn’t host another charity match, arguing that they’ve achieved everything they set out to accomplish with this year’s game.

“The reason why I’m saying I don’t think we should have another one, personally, is because we got everything possible,” he said in a video. “We got a Speed goal, we got a Josh goal, we got penalties, it’s our highest-scoring game.

“You got people that you never would have thought would get a goal. Like, Logan Paul scored. Kai scored. Lachlan scored. …everything happened that we can really ask for.”

Miniminter’s comments sparked a heated debate online, with many users disagreeing with his argument, saying the focus of the Charity Match is in the name — to raise money for charitable causes.

“That’s not really the point of the matches… they’re for charity,” one wrote.

“‘We should stop donating to charity to instead invest in aura,’” another mocked the YouTuber.

“What about the huge amount it raises for charity?” yet another asked.

Thus far, Miniminter hasn’t responded to the conversation his comments have sparked, but he’s not wrong in that this year’s match was one for the ages.

The 2025 Sidemen Charity Football match included memorable performances from several major influencers like Kai Cenat, MrBeast, Logan Paul and even IShowSpeed, who ended up winning the game for team YouTube All Stars with a final penalty kick.

The Charity Football Match is one of several charitable competitive events hosted by major YouTubers, such as Creator Clash, an influencer-boxing event that’s making its big comeback in summer 2025.
